Key Stage 1
This is where the love of learning begins to take shape.
Key Stage 1 at Sherborne School Jeddah spans Years 1 and 2, welcoming pupils aged five to seven into a rich, structured curriculum delivered by experienced British teachers. This is the stage where reading fluency, mathematical thinking, and a genuine enthusiasm for learning are carefully cultivated in classrooms that are warm, purposeful, and full of life.
Key Learning Areas —
From literacy and numeracy to the Arts and beyond - a curriculum built for the whole child.
In English, pupils progress from sounding out words and writing simple sentences in Year 1, to reading fluently, making inferences and producing independent pieces of writing by Year 2. In Mathematics, they build from secure number foundations to multiplication, fractions, measurement and statistics. Lessons across both subjects are practical and purposeful, so pupils understand the why behind what they learn, not just the method.
Science brings the natural world to life, covering animals, the human body and seasonal change in Year 1, and plants, habitats and the needs of living things in Year 2. Humanities connects pupils to their own story and the wider world, including the history and geography of Saudi Arabia, weather, sustainability and significant people and events.
Arabic, Creative Arts, Drama, Music, Computer Science, PE and Games complete a broad curriculum that develops every dimension of the child, academically, creatively and physically. .
