British Science Week

Pupils from across the school stepped into the role of young scientists during British Science Week, asking big questions and discovering the wonders of science through hands-on experiments.

In term 2, pupils from across the school took on the role of young scientists during British Science Week, asking big questions, exploring ideas and discovering the wonders of science through hands-on experiments.

This year's theme, "Curiosity: What's your question?" invited every pupil to think like a scientist. Organised by our Head of Science, Mr Tristian, the week was packed with engaging, practical activities that brought science to life across every year group.

Our youngest pupils in FS1 and FS2 made colour-changing indicators, constructed octopus submarines, excavated dinosaurs and created their very own geysers. In Years 1 and 2, pupils made geysers, programmed robots, created slimy solutions, built catapults and constructed towers, putting their problem-solving skills to the test at every turn.

Pupils in Years 3 to 7 took on more complex investigations, making bath bombs, extracting DNA from strawberries, building circuits, testing for sugars, investigating fingerprints and using microscopes to explore the world up close.

A big thank you to all the teachers who delivered the sessions, and to Mr Tristian for organising such an inspiring week. We hope it sparked plenty of curious conversations about science at home too.
